Every non-domestic premises in the UK is required to ensure that all matters relating to fire safety fully comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. In this article, we look at what your obligations are, and how Risk Safety Services can help you meet them.

What Is The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005?

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order came into force on the 1st October 2006, and replaced previous fire safety legislation and any fire certificates issued under the Fire Precautions Act 1971.  It was designed to provide a minimum fire safety standard in all non domestic premises and simplifies all previous regulations contained within a variety of Acts. It now means that within the workplace, a designated Responsible Person (RP), usually the employer, must carry out the duties specified under the Order.

The Responsible Person is required to carry out certain fire safety duties which include ensuring the general fire precautions are satisfactory, as well as conducting a fire risk assessment. If more than five persons are employed by the company, it has to be a written fire risk assessment.

As an employer, finding the time to deal with all of your regulatory obligations can be difficult.  That is why companies like ours, supply Fire Consultants to help you meet your obligations without distracting you too much from the day to day duties of running your business.
